Definition of 3pl warehouses

3pl warehouses are independent warehouses which manage their customers’ consigned inventories, and process inventories per their customers’ instructions and on their behalf. To their customers’ point of views, 3pls are their remote warehouse locations.

iCube 3pl™ is a warehouse management system with specialized features to tailor for 3pl warehouses.

The standard warehousing features include managing and processing of inventory in locations and bins, for serial and lot controlled inventory. It runs on windows, browsers and on RF scanners.

The specialized features to fit for 3pl warehouses include

  • Handle consigned inventory from multiple customers’ with different item number structure
  • Receive customers’ consigned inventory
  • Manage customers’ inventory
  • Ship inventory to end customers (customers of 3pls’ customers) per instruction from 3pls’customers

Integration with Sage Accpac ERP

As shown in figure 1, iCube products are external systems with modules listed in the purple block. They run on top of Sage core modules and integrate with Sage ERP through its SDK. All functions in iCube post the equivalent transactions in Sage as if they were run within Sage. The data available in Sage will be posted and updated in Sage database. Additional data fields not available in Sage will be stored in iCube database. Examples are revisions, attachments, workflows etc.
